How do I refill my grinder?
PepperBall® or Salt Ball™
On the side of the ball you will see a rectangular window with a sliding door. Simply slide the door down (toward the bottom of the ball). There may be clear tape holding the door shut; this is placed there so the pepper doesn't fall out during shipment. Just peel it off and fill.

Dual Grinder™
On the sides of the grinder you'll see small windows located just below the handles. These open outward. There are small indentations on each side of the doors that allow you to get a good grip and pop them outward. There may be clear tape holding the door shut; this is placed there so the pepper and salt doesn't fall out during shipment. Once open, fill with course salt or peppercorns. One thing to keep in mind is that the salt and pepper cannot be swapped. The grinding mechanisms are specialized, peppercorns must go in the pepper side and salt must go in the salt side.

How do I adjust the coarseness of my grinder?
The PepperBall, Salt Ball, Dual Grinder, Bistro Grinders and Deco Dual Grinder all have grind-adjustment knobs on the bottom of the grinder. The Mix, Olle, Bello, G’rabbit and Tulle grinders have a swiveling base that will rotate left and right to adjust the coarseness. The grind indicator is noted in a small slot on the bottom of the grinder.

How do I clean my Chef’n® product?
All Chef’n® products are top-rack dish-washer safe, with a few exceptions. The VeggiChop lid and EZ Squeeze Can Opener should be hand-washed only. To clean our grinders or Spice Shot, we do not recommend using any type of liquid. Liquid may damage the grinding rasp and spice dispensing wheel if the unit is not completely dry when you refill it. However, you can swab out the inside of your grinder or Spice Shot with a soft cloth. For our grinders you can clean off the grinding rasp if it is clogged. To clean the rasp, turn the grinder upside down and squeeze the grind handle. You'll see the rasp sticking out from the bottom of the unit; while it's sticking out, just clean off the rasp with a soft cloth, gentle brush or toothpick.
